New York Style Pizza in Mobile, Alabama!

You may not expect to find New York Style Pizza in South Alabama, but then again you may not really NEED a slice.  So with a little research prior to my trip, I found the prospect of Papa's Pizza in the town of Daphne, just east of Mobile.  Papa's is just a 1/2 mile south of I-10, just east of Mobile Bay on Hwy 98.  

 Papa's may also be home to the world's largest slices.  Fortunately I only ordered two slices (I often order 3).   I was disappointed at first to see the pizzas being cooked on a conveyer belt  (Lose 10 points on the Sliker Rating System).  But then the Slice Pie started peeking out of the little conveyer belt oven and I couldn't believe my eyes-- a 28" pizza pie!   I am tempted to give it extra points for having Extra Large Slices,  but thought better of it.

Overall score on the Sliker Scale is a 90, on the Yummy Scale it gets 3.5 out of 5 stars.  Their take out menu says they have a website at www.papaspizzadaphne.com, but I get a dead link.

In Alabama you can find some of the best local pizza companies free on www.mylocalpizzaguy.com. You can place reviews and rate the pizza compnies that serve your area. I have even found Organic pizza when I was in Las Vegas nevada visiting. Some of the local pizza companies in mobile and other cities can place an ad for free with mylocalpizzaguy.com and show off the pizza they have available. I love Chicago style deep dish so if anyone knows a plce I can find that let me know. Ther is also a pizza blog on the front page people can visit and give their opinions about pizza in general. Happy Eating!!!

You should try pollmans Pizza in Mobile, they call their pizza "Mobile Style Pizza" it is awsome and will make a NY Pizza Lover want to move to south Alabama! They have a website @ pollmanspizza.com and they also have a myspace page @ myspace.com/pollmanspizza
