New York Style Pizza in Charlotte

I've been very lax in updating the Charlotte section of this blog as well as www.newyorkpizzafinder.com.  Turns out my favorite New York Style Pizza Place, Nurchi's, shut down last year and that was a big disappointment.  Nonetheless, there are a lot of ex-New Yorkers in Charlotte, and a number of good New York Style Pizza Places in the Charlotte area.  Carlo's is my favorite.  Here are some comments from my relatives who live in Charlotte or visit often:

Real New York Pizza from Domino's?

I try not to prejudiced, I want to give everybody a chance, but my experience with national chains trying to produce good New York Style pizza is not too great.  Pizza Hut had the "Big New Yorker" a couple years back, but that was just a Pizza Hut pizza, a little bigger, with big slices.  A step in the right direction, but very little in the way in authenticity.

So yesterday the New York Times ran an article about Domino's Brookly Style Pizza.  Included in the article was a link to Slice, www.sliceny.

New York Pizza in Jacksonville - Day 1

Just pulled into Jacksonville and immediately found my way to Tony's New York Style Pizza out on St.

New York Style Pizza in Mobile, Alabama!

You may not expect to find New York Style Pizza in South Alabama, but then again you may not really NEED a slice.  So with a little research prior to my trip, I found the prospect of Papa's Pizza in the town of Daphne, just east of Mobile.  Papa's is just a 1/2 mile south of I-10, just east of Mobile Bay on Hwy 98.

Welcome OHIO to the New York Style Pizza Blog!

You never know what you're gonna find or when you'll find when you're searching through Google.  I was doing a search on New York Style Pizza in Savannah, and my blog entry was the first entry to pop up.  So eyeballed the second and third entries, and found (for whatever reason) a page describing an incredible New York Style Pizza place in

New York Style Pizza in Jacksonville? Savannah?

I've got an upcoming trip to Jacksonville, FL, and plan to sample a few pizzerias in that area.  I really need to stop in Savannah to check out Vinnie Van Go Go's as well as Cousin Vinnie's.  Ever since the outspoken and slightly controversial post by Paint, I've felt a strong need to get to Savannah and straighten things out.

So back to Jacksonville--  Anybody got suggestions for a good New York Style Pizza in Jacksonville??  Or maybe someplace clo

www.newyorkpizzafinder.com - for New York Style Pizza

I finally got the pizza site (www.newyorkpizzafinder.com)  it's very own URL and it's very own site.  For now it's still a Front Page site and pretty labor intensive to keep up to date and accurate.  I am trying!  I've also looked into getting setup with a decent content management and would like to ability to more tightly integrate with the New York Pizza Blog.  Also, eventually, it would be nice to allow membership and maybe even sell some pizza-related merchandise.  I can dream, can't I? ?

New York Pizza in Eastern PA

I was amazed at all the New York Style Pizza places the Harrisburg area, including Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg, York, Lancaster, and Gettysburg.  I did not have a chance to visit many or feel the need to research much in this area.  Suffice it to say, if you visit these towns, you will not have a problem finding a decent slice of New York Pizza.  I'm trying to figure out how best to represent this on the Pizza Locator map.  Any ideas?  I guess I'm lumping Eastern PA in there with New Jersey and New York-- too may piz
